Goodwill Retail Store Opening
In Speedway
After years of waiting, Goodwill Industries has finally determined that
the timing is right to open a retail store in Speedway. Shoppers can start
preparing now for the proposed March opening.
The 9,000 square foot facility will offer 6,000 square feet of retail shopping
at its future location at 6145 Crawfordsville Road. The retail hours will
be 9 a.m. to9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours are from
noon to 6 p.m. The store will have a drive through donation area. Donations
are essential to Goodwill survival because it relies on donations to become
the affordable quality merchandise to attract shoppers.
“Goodwill has had an eye on Speedway for the past five years. We were waiting
for the right property for us,” said Cindy Graham, vice-president of marketing. Goodwill
surveyed total income of households. The information shows there is a
sustainable market for donations as well as a consumer base to purchase
merchandise.
“We looked at other retailers coming to the area, and these retailers have
proven that Speedway has a good consumer base. We are exciting about coming
to Speedway. It is our 32nd new location in Central Indiana,” she said.
Goodwill is more than selling quality clothes. Its ultimate mission is
to help people with job search, training and retention. The revenue from
the retail stores is directed toward these efforts to help people in Central
Indiana become self-sufficient.
