Merrell Brothers Buys SiteMerrell Brothers Inc., located in Kokomo, has purchased a site and building on Cossell Road, but the company is still negotiating with Speedway officials to bring the proposed septic processing plant closer to the town’s wastewater treatment plant. “We selected Speedway because it is a good location to do business and the people are good to work with,” Terry Merrell said. Merrell Brothers has already established a working relationship with the town from hauling the town’s sludge from the plant for disposal. Merrell said he did not have much information to say at this point, noting they have yet to decide on whether to keep the existing building or start from scratch with a new design. “I am looking at blue prints on my desk now as we are speaking,” Merrell said. In addition to septic processing, the corporation is planning to enter into the bio-diesel and renewable energy business. “It is part of the long-term plan. We have had an eye on renewable energy business for the last five years,” he said. The bio-diesel fuel would be converted from vegetable oils collected from local restaurants. “There are still a lot of steps ahead between now and opening the doors.” Some of the steps include obtaining permits from Indiana Department of Environmental Management. . |
