Despite its small size and blending in with the leaves, officers recovered
the shell casing after a brief search.

A Speedway man was shot in the hand during an attempted robbery early Monday
morning. The unidentified victim was walking home from a local restaurant
around 12:15 am when he was attacked by the suspect, a tall skinny black
male wearing all black clothing.
The victim fought with the suspect before being shot in the hand with a
small caliber gun in the rear of the 2500 block of Brewster Drive. The
victim was transported to Methodist Hospital.
A Metro K9 unit tracked a scent trail from the scene south across 25th
Street and then east to the rear of the Speedway Supercenter were the trail
disappeared.
