Foreclosures Main Topic at Town Hall Meeting

City Councilor Marilyn Pfisterer held her first town hall meeting of the year on Jan 12 and told the audience that one of her first priorities would be to "establish confidence in the council."  Pfisterer will be on the committee investigating alleged ethics violations of Monroe Gray.  Pfisterer will chair the administration finance committee and will also serve on the public safety committee and the early intervention planning council.

Stephanie Reeve, legislative liaison to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, explained a new program introduce last fall to help reduce the number of foreclosures on delinquent home loans in the state.  Indiana ranks second to Ohio in foreclosures.  The Indianapolis area accounts for about forty percent of the state's foreclosures.

The program, created at the request of Lt Governor Becky Skillman,  works with community action programs, lenders and Realtors to help prevent foreclosures by establishing a network of certified foreclosure prevention councilors. Pfisterer announced a consolidation meeting will be held Tuesday the 15th at 2:30 pm in the State House.  State Senator Mike Young wants as many residents from excluded cities to attend.  Further information can be obtained by calling Young's office at 317.232.9476.

Pfisterer said IMPD southwest district will hold their monthly community informational meeting on Thursday the 17th at 2:00 pm at their headquarters at 551 N King Ave.
