Clermont Rodeo in Jeopardy After Davis' Death

(posted Feb 3)

The passing of DVM Larry Davis has been a huge blow to the Town of Clermont and especially to the Lions Club that helps with the organization as well as holds the annual Clermont Rodeo at Clermont Lions Park. His unexpected January 13 death has left a void in the community of how to sponsor the 58th annual rodeo scheduled for June 20-21 and his April Rabies Clinic. Lions Club members are having a February 2 memorial to honor his life and contributions this Winchester man gave to the town and organization.

Sheri-Stevens Miller called him a "down to earth" man as the Lions are calling for a special meeting February 6 to find sponsorship for the rodeo that is named in his honor. Davis was one of the biggest contributors to the event. She used the word "jeopardy" to described their urgency in continuing the event as they are in dire need of sponsors. She said the club needs $20,000 to fulfill the contract with International Rodeo Professional Association. The proceeds from the event benefit Camp Riley.

Miller said the Lions still intend to conduct the rabies clinic that Davis donated his time and efforts to.  The clinic provides rabies vaccinations at cost and they are looking for a DVM to fill Davis' shoes.
