HB 1568 Fails

State Representative Phil Hinkle blamed the demise of HB 1568 over the elimination of the township trustee position. Fire consolidation could have happened, but the issue of the of township trustees bogged the process down.
Hinkle pointed to a concidence. Two years ago, the Democrats had minority control of township government. Only two Democrats held the office of township trustee out of the nine townships. Two years ago, elimination of the position was favorable with the Democrats. Today, six Democrats hold the office of township trustee in Marion County. Hinkle drew the conclusion that maybe the elimination of township trustee position is not so favorable now among the Democrats since they have the majority control at the township level of government
