Parks Board Passes Declaratory Resolution

(posted June 4)

The Speedway Parks Board voted 4-0 to pass a declaratory resolution to issue a not-to-exceed $1,995,000 bond issue to improve Leonard and Meadowood Parks. The June 4 vote was the second meeting of three needed to complete the 20 year bond issuance.
Town Attorney Kim Blanchet said the June 18 meeting will require a public hearing to allow people to voice their concerns about the bond.

"The three step process gives the public ample time to know a project is going on," she said.

Following that public hearing, an additional appropriations meeting will be necessary since the bond expenditures are not part of the budget.

The bond will add about $12.95 a year in taxes on a $100,000 home.

The park plans include adding new play ground equipment and improving the walking trail
to include fitness workout stations at various locations in the park. Mileage markers will also be added.

Lisa Edington, Tim Ramion, Tim Smith and Ray Lawrence vote to accept the bond issue.
