Ordinance 1084 Creates More Parking Restrictions
(posted May 20)
Cars parked on lawns will soon face restrictions if the Speedway Town Council
adopts ordinance 1084 at the May 29 meeting. The proposed ordinance passed
muster with the council during its first reading at the May 14 meeting.
Councilors Jeff Hartman and Lu Hillmer worked with the town attorney Kimberly
Blanchet to draft an ordinance that prohibits cars from parking on any
portion of the lawn. Hillmer has been pushing for this type of ordinance
for some time in an effort to maintain the town's visual appeal.
The parking restrictions exceptions are Indianapolis Motor Speedway's racing events, washing the car and loading or unloading. The ordinance did not specify the time allotment that a car could remain on the lawn for washing, loading or unloading.
