LLC Purchases Property on Crawfordsville Road

Speedway and the surrounding area could be taking on a new look with the announcement that Crawfordsville Road Partners LLC purchased 19 acres located on the southeast corner of interchange of I-465 and Crawfordsville Road.

Ross Reller, vice-president of Meridian Real Estate, said the site extends behind the Marsh Grocery Store and Denny's Restaurant. Reller said the new interchange design for High School Road will lead into the site. INDOT's Accelerate 465 road reconfiguration made the site more attractive for development.

Reller did not get into specifics of the development but said it would cause the proposed trail development of the abandon Conrail corridor to be altered. The trail would be moved to the southern boundary which is Eagle Creek. "That is the most beautiful part of the site," he said.

Reller said he has been in communication with Indy Parks over the changed route. Reller did not know that the Speedway Trail Association existed, but said he would be glad to attend one of its meetings. He explained the group of investors is supportive to the trail development.

STA recently formed to develop the B & O, Eagle Creek and Conrail corridors. In addition, the STA would like to see internal trails within the town that link Meadowood Park and Leonard Park together.
