Variance Sought To Build Out Lots(posted July 2) Centre Properties is seeking a variance at 4545 Lafayette Road to build six to eight out lot buildings east of the vacant Builders' Square Home Improvement. According to Department of Metropolitan Development Senior Planner David Hill, the petitioner wants a variance so parking can be located within 10 feet of the I-65 right-of-way instead of the required 20 feet. He said there is a proposal to build one larger retail out lot building in addition to the others, but he said current discussions have placed this project on the question mark list because it may not happen. The public hearing is set for July 17 at the City-County Building located at 200 E. Washington Street. Hill said the petition did not give names of retailers and nor plans mentioning the fate of the vacant Builder's Square. The Wal-Mart Super Center Store is located southeast of this proposed project. It is scheduled to open in January 2008. The building construction can be seen from the intersection of 46th and Lafayette Road. |
