Three invoices for appraisals conducted in January were submitted by Integra Realty Resources to the Speedway Redevelopment Commission. A complete summary appraisal report for the Speedway Gas Station located at 4743 W. 16th Street was $5,500.

Attorney Assists Speedway Trails Group

Nels Ackerson, an attorney who helped champion property rights for adjacent landowners to abandoned railroad property, has volunteered to assist the Speedway Trails Association with issues involving Marion County Corporate Legal. Ackerson is also running for the 4th US Congressional Seat.

LKQ of Indiana Dismisses Case

LKQ of Indiana received approval of its request to dismiss the zoning and variance petition to build a car recycling facility at 8018 W. Washington Street. The company now plans to move the facility north of the site toward Morris Street. The Department of Metropolitan Development Hearing Examiner also granted a 25 percent reimbursement of the filing fee, in the amount of $1,431.25, at the Feb 28 meeting.

Earl Salisbury of the Wayne Township Assessor's Office preferred the facility be moved south on airport property.

Public Involvement Enlisted for Redevelopment Area Two

Within two days of creating a tax increment financing district for Redevelopment Area 2, the Speedway Redevelopment Commission conducted a town meeting to gather input to start the area's master planning process. The February 28 meeting attracted about 60 residents and a hand full of business owners to participate in an analysis that examined the town's strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. The public's ideas and opinions were documented on paper for the citizen member steering committee to sort through at a later date.

Bus Route May Change

The Speedway Transportation Board officially petitioned IndyGo about rerouting bus service from Winton Avenue onto the four lane street of Lynhurst Drive.

Indiana Cake Exploration Society Meets April 13

Marsha Brooks of Ms. B's Sweet Supplies is the Indiana Representative for Indiana Cake Exploration Society. The society is having its annual demonstration and business meeting April 13 at the Holiday Inn Select by the Airport.

Indy Parks Looking for Public Input

Approximately 55 people attended the Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation Comprehensive and Plan and Greenways Master Plan meeting at Krannert Park to develop a five year plan to update the parks and programs. The March 1 meeting was one of the first of the nine different township  meetings to collect public input. Among those in attendance were State Representative Phil Hinkle and Indianapolis City County Councilor Janice McHenry. Hinkle said he was just there to listen since he lives in the township.
