Allison Petitions to Close Grande Ave

Allison announced two public meetings to give the public an opportunity
to ask questions and learn more about the company's petition to vacate
Grande Avenue.
The dates are November 10 and 13 from 4-7 pm.
These will be informal meetings where the public can come and go as needed.
Officials from Allison and the Speedway Redevelopment Commission will be
available to answer questions at the main office, located at 4700 W. 10th
Street. |
Allison Transmission filed a petition on October 28 with the Department of Metropolitan Development to start
the process to vacate Grande Avenue. The petition included findings of fact that identified
the road closure as part of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission's plan.
The second finding depicted the need for plant security measures due to
Allison's military defense contracts.
The vacation would eliminate conflicts between cars and pedestrians using
the road. The petition calls for closing Grande between 10th Street on
the north and Rybolt on the south. No date has been set for the Marion
County Plat Committee to hear the petition.
Allison's cost to file the petition was $15,470.
