Airport Shuttle Restrictions Protested

High School Road, complained to State Representative Phil Hinkle during his town hall meeting about the Indianapolis Airport Authority's courtesy vehicle permit agreement with Metro Airport Parking. Wilson does not own Metro Airport Parking, just the land.

Town's Christmas Lights Plans Darkened
(posted Dec 13)Clermont remains a little dark this Christmas season after the town council found it was unable to use IPL's poles to plug in Christmas lights. Some council members gathered prior to Thanksgiving to replace bulbs, only to find out their work was for naught. The plan was to hang the Christmas decorations down Crawfordsville Road the day after Thanksgiving.

Eagle Creek Erosion Repairs Coming
(posted Dec 13)The Department of Public Works Board approved a $1,148,500 contract for Calumet Civil Contractors to perform the Eagle Creek Shoreline Stabilization project. The project area runs from Rick's Boat Yard Cafe to the Eagle Creek Dam. The project should take about 180 days to complete once work begins.

Grande Avenue Closing Remains Hot Topic
(posted Dec 13)Merri Anderson, president of the Greater Garden City Civic Association, took the issue of vacating Grande Avenue to State Representative Phil Hinkle's December 11 Town Hall meeting. Her message stated that the Speedway Redevelopment Commission's plans to vacate Grande Avenue is affecting more people outside of Speedway than inside. She was concerned about the businesses on Gasoline Alley and the surrounding neighborhoods. "It is a main travel route for a lot of people" since Grande Avenue links to Polco and Gasoline Alley.

Volunteers Needed to Deliver Library Books

Native Americans Fight Cultural Submersion
(posted Dec 13)You don't have to be a Native American to attend the monthly Nimkii Band Meeting at St. John's Episcopal Church. The meetings, held on the first Thursday of the month, are to educate and to retain the Native American culture by drumming, storytelling, crafting, and talking in the native language.

KIB Awards Tree Planting Grant to Clermont
(posted Dec 12)Walt Miller of the Clermont Community Development Committee announced to the four members present at its Dec 9 that meeting that Keep Indianapolis Beautiful awarded a tree planting grant to Clermont. The committee applied for a grant to plant 50-60 trees.
The trees will be planted on public and private land. He indicated a tree would look good at one of the committee member's yards.

Clermont Delays Signing Fire Contract
(posted Dec 12)The Clermont Town Council delayed passing the 2009 fire contract with Wayne Township for a second time until the provision concerning false alarms fines are thoroughly defined. Currently the contract states false alarms will be covered as per "Indiana law."
