Lenny's Wants to Be Part of Speedway
(posted Mar 26)
Lenny's Sub Shop has already developed repeat customers since its grand opening March 17. Derrick Storms, operating partner, explained it is the quality and size of the sandwich that keeps customers returning.
However, Storms emphasized that is not part of the Lenny's philosophy just to take the customers money and not give back to the community. "We don't shy way from taking care of the community. Lenny's wants to be the Speedway's neighborhood sub shop," he said.
Katie Banks, marketing director, explained the store emphasizes customer
service, and that customers are surprised to see the warm welcome they
receive when entering the store. Part of the staff's goal is to learn customers'
names and their menu choice. Both Banks and Storms would
like to become more involved with the schools and other organizations,
especially fund raisers. "Call us, that is why we are here,"
Storms said. Lenny's most recent fund raiser was with KinderCare that involved
kids with a March of Dimes Walk.
Storms indicated his other Lenny's Sub Shop located in Avon has been very
active with Avon Public Schools, Kingsway Christian School and Danville
Public Schools. Storms is not surprised if many people have not heard of
the Memphis based upscale sub shop because Lenny's was not part of the
Indiana market until July 2007 when he opened the first store in Avon.
He plans to open more stores now that Speedway is open, one each
in Hamilton and Tippecanoe Counties.
Anyone needing help with fund raising can stop in at
Lenny's at 5945 Crawfordsville Road or call 241-6848.
