Cattie's Corner Closing its Doors
(posted Apr 12)
After 22 years of business, Cattie's Corner is closing its doors at
the end of the month at 1002 Main Street. Owner Stan Smith said his 80
year old mother can no longer stand on her feet ten hours a day to prepare
home cooked meals since having her knee replacement surgery.
He said "Cattie's Corner is supported by a core of the older generation
of customers that know the value of a home cooked meal." She makes
"daily fresh fried potatoes and other good home cooked stuff".
He said the younger generation is in a hurry and prefers to
use chain restaurants with drive-thru windows. "That is what is hurting
the mom and pop businesses," he said.
