Town Seeks Home for Water

(posted June 11)

The Town of Speedway is looking for a home for 400,000 gallons of potable water before Friday.

According to Water Assistant Superintendent Steve Hurst, Town Manager Barbara Lawrence is searching to see if some displaced community needs water due to the floods before the water tower releases the water into Little Eagle Creek. Little Eagle Creek eventually connects to White River. White River goes through Morgan, Owen, Greene, Daviess and  Pike counties before flowing into the Wabash.

The tower needs to be drained to be inspected. Hurst explained it is not an easy process, and it has to be coordinated between the races.
