Lafayette Square Hosting Parade

(posted June 1)

The Lafayette Square Area Coalition is celebrating the multi-cultural diversity of the Lafayette Square area by hosting a parade October 18. The parade is part of the kickoff for the Second Annual Taste The Difference tour October 20-26, designed to encourage customers to try the different ethnic restaurants in the area.

The parade will use the Lafayette Road corridor starting at Lafayette Square Mall and finishing at Wal-Mart Super Center. The parade will also provide a medium for Eagledale-Lafayette Square Area Weed and Seed to get the message out that it has completed its one year anniversary of receiving a Department of Justice grant. Not many businesses or residents are aware of the designation.

LSAC board member Mark Killgo said free WiFi internet access is installed at the mall. He said that ewireless has signed up businesses to become hot spot locations. Users will see splash page advertisements for the business that is hosting that particular hot spot. The wireless service will also provide customer demographics to the business.

In other news, developer Clint Fultz said that he sold the Georgetown Cinema 14 and Sav-a-Lot to the cinema tenants on May 16 for undisclosed amount of money.
