Apartment Fire Cause Undetermined

The Speedway Fire Department released this report on the June 30 International Village Apartment fire.

On June 30,2008 at approximately 3:25 pm, Speedway Fire Dept. responded to a 3 alarm fire in the 2900 block of Embassy Row, in the International Village apartments.

SFD, IFD and Wayne Township units fought the fire utilizing seven engines, four ladders, and six support units, utilizing approximately 60 firefighters.

Three Speedway Firefighters and one Indianapolis Firefighter were injured, two  transported to local hospitals. Two were treated on the scene and all released.

{Speedway and Wayne Township investigated the fire. The findings are found to be "undetermined"primarily due to the magnitude the fire and the collapse of the structure.)

The investigators interviewed occupants and first arriving fire crews, and along with their findings could determine the origin to be in the area of the attic. But again, they could not positively determine the cause.
