Clermont Christian Church's chronic roof leak in the sanctuary has been
solved by taking down the steeple and enclosing the skylights.
Pastor Jim Burks said it was the steeple's four legs extending through the roof to attach to the beam caused the leak.
The steeple is now lowered to ground level with the expectation to use the steeple for new sign. Burks explained the bell in the steeple was made in 1894 by the Buckeye Bell Foundry. He said the original church site's foundation can still be seen at Camp Dellwood.
The church celebrated its 150th anniversary five years ago.
The church is also remodeling the sanctuary. He said it was not very user
friendly because the doors opened up by the stage, so late comers were
placed in an awkward situation when they entered.
