Residents in the surrounding neighborhoods of the proposed linear park
can rest easy now. The street realignments on 25th, 24th Street and McCray
are not eliminating homes on the south side of the streets.
The linear park displays raised an alarm with some of the residents last
week when they went to the library to observe the plans. One set of plans
shows McCray Street is going through Sarah Seeley's house. That is what
she observed when looking at one of the displays. Seeley said she has questions
about the plan and would like to have an explanation.
The proposed linear park also shows road changes on 25th Street and 24th
Street. These changes also show a proposed road running through the homes
on the south side of the streets. The map is not clear exactly how far
west it starts but does extend west of Meyers Avenue. The proposals depict
McCray and 24th Streets ending in a cul-de-sac to link to the linear park.
Executive Director Scott Harris said "there is an overlay problem. As I assumed, the linear park will not impact these neighborhoods."
