Speedway Police made two arrests in conjunction with a reported carjacking that occurred at 25th and Parkwood yesterday shortly after noon. Officer Rod Ferguson and Sgt Sam Alexander meet the "victim" and were told she had been ordered out of her car by a black male, who then drove east on 25th. Officers became suspicious of Dawn Ryan's story after she told them she was taking a cash deposit from the Circle K to the bank at the time her 20 year old vehicle was taken from her.

Ryan and her cousin, Devin Tanner, were taken to the station for questioning by Det Jim Thiele. Ryan had given officers at the scene a description of her car and keys. Det. Sgt. Mirantha Wilson went to the scene and saw a set of car keys matching the description given by Ryan in Tanner's Mustang. About the same time Officer Ferguson located Ryan's car a short distance from the crime scene.

Ryan admitted to Det. Thiele that she had not been carjacked and had agreed with Tanner to steal the money and use the carjacking story to cover the loss.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Tanner's car and recovered the Circle K deposit slip, money and Ryan's keys inside his car. Both Ryan and Tanner were charged with theft, and Ryan with false reporting.
